A busy time

It has been a very busy few weeks for us. We have been working hard on some custom jobs, which we have now delivered. Building a custom piece is such an amazing, process. From the very first time a client contacts us, to the look on their face on delivery day, there are so many ups and downs.

One of our favourite recent pieces was a custom ash dining table. When our clients came to us, they were unsure of exactly what they wanted, but quickly came up with a vision for their dream table. While it is not our usual process, they were interested in choosing the specific pieces of wood that would make up their table. Kent for sure got a little sparkle in his eye while he showed the clients all of the different options and explained the ins and outs of each type of wood. It was a fun day for sure. They ended up picking two beautiful pieces of ash.

The leg style for this table was also very unique, but Kent loved the challenge of designing and creating the legs. It is so amazing to watch them come together from pieces of steel to the final product!

This table was special because our clients wanted glass for the “river” portion through the centre. The glass proved a lot more difficult than we had hoped, but our friends at Arnprior Glass did a fantastic job of cutting the glass to match a template of the centre. Because our client wanted to look of water in the centre of the table, they asked whether we could have a photo printed on vinyl to place on the glass, and our friends at Capital Valley Vinyl did a great job bringing this to life! We think it makes such a difference in the table and the finished product looked super cool.

While waiting for the glass for the table to come in, we were also able to complete a custom ambrosia maple floating shelf and a beautiful mirror made from rare Siberian elm. This was our first time working with this unique wood and we loved the surprising pop of colour once we removed the bark!

We are currently working on a custom sign for a local business and we are so excited to share the finished product! It is really going to pop! Can’t wait to share it with you.

Stay tuned for some more musings regarding our process…

We are so pleased with the custom dining room table that Kent made for us. We wanted something custom, something local and a well experienced craftsman to make it. Searching the Internet I came across Priors Edge. I had not heard of them before but upon reading more about Kent, I knew he was the person to do the job. From the onset Kent made suggestions and listened to our ideas as well. This table came together and reflects our combined ideas and enhances the beauty of the black walnut which will become a topic of conversation for many years to come. Kent has received another custom order for our new home and we look forward to the day that special unique piece is delivered.
